Passos sustentáveis

Se seguem o blog, sabem o quanto gosto de sapatos (até já vos falei aqui sobre a minha 1ª compra a solo ) e sinceramente acho que não há nada que goste mais de comprar.

Agora que ando numa fase de consumo mais consciente tenho refreado os impulsos de comprar com base nos critérios 1) “amor á primeira vista” e 2) “bonito e barato” ( que, até há poucos meses, eram a justificação para as minhas compras em geral) e tenho-me concentrado em visualizar mentalmente os armários cheios de calçado/roupa que tenho em casa sempre que já estou a embarcar na loucura de “ só mais esta vez porque preciso mesmo de mais uns ténis brancos para juntar aos 10 que lá tenho em casa”.

Por isso, quando recebi o contacto da Vada ( @wearevada) fiquei especialmente feliz, fui logo explorar a marca e apaixonei-me de imediato pelo conceito e pelo design minimalista dos sapatos: se simples é bom imaginem o que é simples, ultra confortável e sustentável.

Entendi que quando se referem a sustentável estão a falar sobre o processo de produção e os materiais usados mas também sobre a preocupação de que estes lindos sapatinhos sejam usáveis em todas em estações do ano e durante muitos anos. No fundo, o que procuram fazer entender é que o sentido de sustentável é bem mais lato do que apenas “ser bem produzido”: o facto de ser durável significa poupança de recursos (naturais e não só) e isso, por si só, já é uma forma de uso consciente dos mesmos.

Os sapatos são feitos em lã de alpaca que é um tipo de material que regula a temperatura de forma natural para além de que é leve, respirável e tem uma suavidade muito própria. São estas características que permitem que sejam usáveis todo o ano: nos dias frios aquecem, nos mais quentes protegem do calor.

Confesso que em relação a este ponto mantive-me céptica até os experimentar mas depois de os usar tanto em dia mais quentes como em dias de frio (sim, é oficial, estou obcecada por eles…) posso garantir que estes são os sapatos de sonho para quem quer aliar conforto e design intemporal durante o ano inteiro.

Por outro lado, as solas são feitas de uma espuma, super flexível, que é maioritariamente proveniente de algas, o que explica o conforto absoluto que se sente ao usar estes sapatos.

Apesar de eu ter sido a clássica do costume e ter escolhido os sapatos em preto, existem outras cores (os amarelos são lindos!) que podem ver no site.

Para terminar, gostava só de acrescentar que, como sempre, eu baseei-me na minha experiência para falar sobre um produto que me impressionou muito pela qualidade, pelo conforto e pelo design. Se aliado a tudo isto ainda consegue ser sustentável e tratar o meio ambiente com o respeito que lhe devemos, para mim, é justificável o preço que muitos vão considerar caro.

No entanto, lembrem-se que muito provavelmente só os vão considerar caros porque os vão comparar a outros, de aspecto semelhante, que se podem encontrar nas cadeias de fast fashion a metade do preço e, por vários motivos, essa não é uma comparação justa.

Sustainable steps …

If you follow the blog, you know how much I like shoes (I already told you here about my 1st experience in buying shoes) and honestly I think that there is nothing that i love more to buy .

Now that I am in a more conscious phase about my consumer habits, I have curbed the impulse to buy based on the criteria 1) “love at first sight” and 2) “beautiful and cheap” (which, some months ago, were the justification for my purchases in general) and I have been concentrating on mentally visualizing the closets full of shoes / clothes that I have at home whenever I am embarking again on the madness “just one more time because I really need one extra pair of white sneakers to add to the 10 pairs I already own".

So, when I received the contact from Vada ( @wearevada ), I felt very happy, went to explore the brand and immediately fell in love with its concept and the minimalist design of the flats: if simple is good, imagine what is simple, ultra-comfortable and sustainable.

I understood that when they say sustainable they are talking about the production process, about the materials used but also about the concern that these beautiful shoes can be wearable in all seasons and for many years. Basically, what they seek to transmit is that the sense of sustainable is much broader than just “being well produced”: the fact that it’s durable means saving resources (natural and not only) and that, itself, is a form of conscious use of them.

The shoes are made of alpaca wool which is a material that regulates the temperature in a natural way besides being light, breathable and very, very soft. These are the characteristics that allow them to be used all year round: in the cold weather they heat up, in the warmer months they protect from the heat.

I confess that this was a point I was skeptical about until I tried them; but after using it both on hotter days and on cold days (yes, it is official, I am obsessed with them ...) I can guarantee that these are the dream shoes for those who want to combine comfort and timeless design all year long.

On the other hand, the soles are made of a foam, super flexible, which is mostly sourced from algae, which explains the absolute comfort that you feel when wearing these shoes.

Although I was the usual classic type, and chose the flats in black, there are other colors (the yellow ones are beautiful!) that you can find on line.

Finally, I would just want to add that, as always, I draw on my experience to talk about this product that impressed me a lot for its quality, comfort and design. If allied to all these, it still manages to be sustainable and treat the environment with respect, for me, the price that many will consider expensive is justified.

However, remember that you will most likely consider they’re expensive because these shoes will be compared to others, only similar in appearance, which can be found in fast fashion chains at half the price and, for various reasons, this is not a fair comparison.
